Junior Buyer

The Junior Buyer will work closely with the Buying team to develop and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing suppliers, with the objective of supporting sales growth and increasing market share. The role includes identifying, assessing, and onboarding new suppliers to meet the current and future needs of the business, while driving continuous improvement in cost efficiency, product quality, and delivery performance. It also involves contributing to the introduction of new products and services that enhance the company’s offering.

Job Role & Responsibilities

· Manage daily order placement and procurement activities with suppliers.

· Assist Buyers with the sourcing and selection of fresh produce.

· Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with both new and existing suppliers.

· Ensure effective short-, medium-, and long-term supply of produce through efficient buying, sourcing, and supply chain management.

· Support Buyers in product line planning, trading, and strategic decision-making.

· Monitor stock levels in line with sales forecasts and projections.

· Conduct sales analysis to support promotional and marketing strategies.

· Review competitor offerings, pricing, and market positioning on an ongoing basis.

· Perform regular competitor product and pricing checks.

· Engage in daily communication and coordination with suppliers.

· Negotiate effectively on product quality, volume, delivery schedules, and pricing to maximise margins and overall profitability.

· Liaise daily with line leaders regarding all orders to be processed.

· Conduct all supplier negotiations in a fair, ethical, and responsible manner.

· Carry out ad-hoc tasks as required by Buyers and Management.

· Demonstrate a high level of competency and confidence in using IT systems, including the Microsoft Office programs and capacity to learn new programs quickly

· Demonstrate initiative and a flexible approach to issues

· Ability to work well under pressure, plan and organise workloads to meet deadlines

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

· Confident negotiation skills

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment


Desired Skills and Experience

· Business Admin/ Agricultural Science Graduates
