About the Recipe
Lemonade doesn't have to be a chemical-infused offering of the big drinks manufacturers - a homemade lemonade on a hot day can be just about one of the most simple, natural and refreshing things ever. This recipe should be made in strawberry season when you can taste the real strawberry flavour and when the weather is nice and warm.
Ingredients
200g sugar
400g fresh strawberries
6 lemons - squeezed to produce 350 ml lemon juice
1500 ml water
ice
200g strawberries for garnish
lemon slices for garnish
Preparation
Boil up the sugar and 250 ml of water until the sugar is dissolved. Let cool to room temperature.
Blend the strawberries 400g of strawberries in a blender until smooth.
Add the lemon juice to the strawberry mixture and add to the cooled sugar/water mixture.
Using a large pitcher, add the above mixture to the 1500 ml cold water.
Make sure the strawberry lemonade is cold (refrigerate if necessary), add ice and garnish to serve.
