Meade Farm Group are an award-winning Fresh Produce Company who operate from their state-of-the-art family farm in Lobinstown, Co. Meath. The Company established in 1982 has grown from a single packing store to an advanced and progressive farm & food production facility to make the journey from field to fork as efficient as possible. They currently employ close to 400 people in several production & professional positions.
Job Role & Responsibilities
The Senior Fresh Produce Buyer will assist with developing and maintaining their team of growers, while securing the very best quality standards of fresh produce, together with managing & overseeing national retail accounts.
Communicate effectively with their own Farm Team on demand & supply.
Manage the supply of fresh produce in the short, medium, and long term through effective competitive buying, inspecting quality and logistical & supply chain management.
Maintain strong working relationships with strategic and long-term suppliers and customers to assure quality, fulfilment, sales & value.
Respond to and resolve queries daily from customers and suppliers efficiently.
Coordinate procurement in line with sales requirements and stock functions, including rotation management. Manage accurate & timely stock counts with full explanations on any variances & taking correction action where required.
Ensure your team maintain ERP (Prophet) system in a consistent, timely & accurate manner.
Daily monitoring and reviewing of various commercial trends & financial reports for analysis or corrective action to improve the commercials of the business.
Ensure high quality, profitable procurement for your department & your team.
Drive continuous improvement, both in terms of quality & value within the team and department.
Undertake store visits and attend meetings on a regular basis internally & externally. Attendance at fresh produce trade shows and events will be beneficial to the role.
Maintain up to date knowledge of market sector trends, competitor activity and product lines.
Maintain traceability of produce quality in line with Company standards.
Ensure all suppliers comply with site requirements in relation to product quality and delivery.
Compliance with all Company policies and procedures across the site.
Communicate effectively with Production, Quality, Logistics, Technical and all-other relevant departments.
Necessary administration duties associated with the role.
Ad-hoc duties as requested by your Manager / Commercial Director.

Proficiency in MS Office (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint) and ERP experience is an advantage
Bachelor’s degree in a Business or equivalent degree suited to the role or significant commercial experience
Minimum of 3+ years’ buying experience, preferable in the FMCG sector
Personable, approachable & positive attitude, self-motivated, hard-working, confident, works well in a team, leadership traits, outgoing & professional with a sense of humour.
8 hour per day, optional finish at 4pm on Friday’s
